History

The first occupants of the territory known as Vista were Luiseno who lived on the land until 1798 when Spanish explorers took over the area. During the 1830s, the Mexican government created three ranchos in the area, with one of them being Rancho Vista. Growth was slow in Vista until a new water supply was constructed in the early 1900s.

Today, it is a thriving community with a vast array of businesses and attractive homes.

Vibe

While Vista is not right on the shore, it is only about 7 miles from the coast which has a great influence throughout the city. With ocean breezes, sunny weather, and a wide variety of entertainment, Vista is a wonderful place to live. It is a great place to raise a family considering the many schools for children and plentiful of parks and kid-friendly activities.

Residential real estate is Vista in considered more favorably priced compared to other local San Diego suburbs. The average Vista home is around $700K, quite affordable by San Diego County standards; thus a middle-class family has an excellent opportunity to buy a house here!
